AMVETS Post 8 lived up to their moto, "Vets Helping Vets", by donating $500 for what is lovingly being called "Operation Hoodie." AMVETS member, Roger Johnson, asked his friend, Dr. Christina Lafferty, Colonel, U.S. Air Force Reserve (Ret.), who volunteers with pet therapy visiting the wounded warriors at Walter Reed Hospital, what Post 8 could do to help. Chris contacted the American Red Cross located at Walter Reed. They said the wounded warriors were in desperate need of hooded sweatshirts. The storeroom was bare. Chris said she would do whatever needed to be done to help. Post 8 generously sent a check to Chris who then went to her local Kohl's store and asked for help. Not only did the wonderful folks at Kohl's help her pick out the hoodies, but the store
gave an additional 10% off of the total! Chris was able to purchase 31 hoodies for our brave men and women!

The soldier in the photo prefers just to be known as Charles – he’s proud to stand (with a prosthetic leg) for all the soldiers you’ve helped. Amazingly, he spoke at the National AMVETS meeting recently – what a great connection.
AMVETS Post 8
would like to thank Charles
and all of the men and women
who have sacrificed so much
for our freedom and freedom
around the world.
God Bless America!
