Amvets Post 8 prides itself with               involvement in local activities honoring veterans and their sacrifices.

After the attack on the United States on September 11, 2001, Public Relations Officers Larry Anderson and Mike Allen decided there should be a Veterans Day Parade in Galesburg, which had not occured since 1976.  With only 10 days to put it together, they buckled down and got it done! The parade not only saluted the veterans, past and present, but Firefighters, Police, and EMT's.  The parade was so well accepted, it was made an annual event.   TH
