Sunday, November 11 Galesburg Honored Their Veterans With
The 7th Annual Veterans Day Parade

  A Soldier Reports To God

The soldier stood and faced his God, which must always come to pass,
He hoped his shoes were shining just as bright as his brass,
" Step forward now you soldier, how should I deal with you?"
" Have you always turned the other cheek, to my church have you been         true ?"

The soldier squared his shoulders and said," No Lord I guess I ain't,"
Cause those of us that carry guns can't always be saint,
But I never took a penny that wasn't my to keep,
Though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills got to steep,

I never passed a cry for help, though at times I shook with fear,
And Lord forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears,
Lord I know I don't deserve a place among the people here,
They never wanted me around, except to calm their fear,

Lord if you a place for me here it needn't be so grand,
I never wanted or expected much, if you don't I understand,
" Step forward now you soldier, you have borne your burdens well,
Walk peacefully on heaven's streets, you have done your time in hell."
The parade begins with a police escort of the Patriot Guard Riders.
